Vendhaya Kuzhambu

Vendhaya Kuzhambu and Keerai Masiyal is the best unbeatable combination ever.My Man’s all time favourite.It tastes well with coriander flavoured smell.The seeds and leaves are primarily used as a culinary spice,It is also to treat a variety of health problems.

Vendhayam / Fenugreek :
Fenugreek is an herb that is commonly found growing in the Mediterranean region of the world.Fenugreek seeds have been found to contain protein,vitamin C,niacin,potassium,and diosgenin (which is a compound that has properties similar to estrogen).
# Remedy to aid milk production in Lactating Women. (500mg .three times a day)
# Remedy to ease child birth for Pregnant Women. (Stimulates uterine contractions to induce birth)
# Balance Women’s hormones & enlarge the breasts. (3gm per day)
# Home remedy for Fever. (one tsp with tea 3times a day)
# Treating Diabetes and Lowering Blood Sugar Levels. (500mg twice in a day)

Vendhaya Kuzhambu Recipe :
Thats it : Seeding – Boil ing. – Simmer
Cooking Time : 30 mins
Serves       : 2persons

Ingredients :












Gingelly Oil
2 tbsp
Mustard
1 tsp
Urad dhal
½ tsp
Cumin / jeera
1 tsp
Fenugreek/ vendhayam
1 tsp
Channa dal
1 tbsp
Hing/Asafoetida
¼ tsp
Curry Leaves
1 sprig
Garlic
5 Cloves
Small Onion/ Shallots
8
Tomato
1
Turmeric powder
¼ tsp
Chilli powder
1 tsp
Coriander powder
Tamarind
3 tsp
lemon sized
Coconut paste/Milk
½ cup
Water
3 cups
Salt
1 ½ tsp
(adjust)

Procedure :

# Chop Onions,peel off the garlic skin,make coconut paste.
# Soak tamarind in a cup of water.Extract as two cups.











1.Heat a kadai,add gingelly oil,add mustard,after it splutters,add urad dhal,jeera ,channa dhal,fenugreek(dont over fry fenugreek till dark brown as it gives bitter taste),Asafoetida ,curry leaves,garlic cloves,after it gets brown in colour,add onion ,fry till brown.


2.Add tomato,fry till mushy,add tamarind water (2Cups), all the spice powders turmeric powder,chilli powder,coriander powder ,give a stir and make it to boil till raw smell leaves(4mins).


3.Now simmer the flame to low,add coconut paste and cook for 4 mins.Now it thickens.


Vendhaya Kuzhambu is Ready...!

Notes :
1.Gingelly oil gives nice flavour.
2.Small onion,Coriander powder is the main ing. for this yummy taste.
