Lemon Rice

Lemon Rice / Elumichai Sadham is a traditional menu which can be prepared quickly.It goes well with Pickle,any dry fry,Vadagam and all.Intake of lemon in any form to the diet is very healthy.People prefer lemon rice as a travelling menu.

Health Benifits :

Lemon is an excellent source of powerful antioxidant vitamin C.Vitamin C can help to fight skin damage caused by the sun and pollution.Intake of lemon prevent the risk of asthma.Intake of paired foods like Vitamin C + Iron-rich foods will maximaize the ability to absorp iron.Example : Veg or Chickpea Salad with a squeeze of lemon.Foods that are high in vitamin C and other antioxidants can help to boost the immune system battle germs that cause Cold or Flu.

Lemon Rice Recipe :
Thats it : Cook Rice – Tempering – Mix Both
Cooking Time : 25mins
Serves : 2Persons

Ingredients :

To Temper :
Gingelly Oil / Nallennai
Urad dhal
Channa dhal
Asafoetida/ Perungaayam
Green chillies
Red chillies
Turmeric Powder
Curry Leaves

3Normal size
Cooked Rice
to taste

Preparation :
#Cook rice.Open the pot,fluff the rice.Add 1 tsp of oil/ghee,mix it and let it be without closing the lid.

#Ready with tempering ingredients.Extract juice from the lemon.

1.Heat a Pan in Low flame,add oil,mustard,after it splutters,add urad dhal,channa dal,Peanuts,Green & Red chillies,Asafoetida,Turmeric powder,Curry Leaves,fry for a minute.Swith Off the flame.Immediately add squeezed lemon juice,salt to the hot tempered pan.

2.Add it to the cooked rice.Mix gently and taste for the salt.Keep aside.

Lemon Rice is Ready ....!

Serve with Pickle,Vadagam,Potato or any dry Fry.
Notes :
1.You can use cooked basmati rice or normal rice or even leftover rice.

2.You can add lemon juice and cook for a min OR add after swithing off the flame OR directly add it the rice.(adding lemon juice after switching off the flame is not to loose the vitamins present in the fresh lemon)
