Hello everyone! I am back after few months ,so happily here with delicious Aval Payasam without dissappointing you all.Krishna Jeyanthi(Gokulashtami) is around the corner,so i planned to start my blog journey with naughty krishna's one of the favourite ing. Aval(Poha / Rice Flakes).
First time,i prepared aval payasam for last year Krishna Jeyanthi Celebration.It came out very well.Last week again i prepared this delicious dessert for evening snack with thin aval (poha).Enjoy with your family and friends!!!
Aval Payasam Recipe :
Cooking Time : 30 mins
Serves : 4Persons
Cashew nuts 5 (broken)
Coconut bits 1tbsp
Aval (Poha) 1Cup (i used thin poha)
Sugar 3/4 -1Cup
Cardamom Pdr 1/4 tsp
1.Heat a pan in low flame,add ghee,broken cashews,raisins,coconut bits and fry till it turns light brown in colour.Keep aside.
2.In the same pan,add aval and fry for 3mins till the aroma of aval wafts and start changes in colour.Keep aside.
3.Meanwhile,heat milk in a heavy-bottomed pan,after it boils add aval and cook for few mins.I used thin aval, it takes 2mins for me.[For thick aval it takes 4-5 mins].Stir it now and then to prevent burn on the pan's bottom.
4.After the aval is cooked,add sugar,cardamom powder and stir well.Cook well for 5mins,now the consistency of milk thickens.
5.Add fried cahews etc,;Switch off the flame.
Aval Payasam is Ready!!!
Serve chill or warm.
1.After sometimes,the payasam consistency thickens.
2.You can also use jaggery instead of sugar.
3.You can also coarsely grind aval by mixie after fry.
