Ellu Urundai is a traditional ladoo which has iron-rich nutrition in it.In ancient days,people regularly prepare this ladoo with black/white sesame seeds with jaggery and offered to god during festive occassions.This is the best & healthy sweet for kids and yelders.You can prepare this ladoo within few minutes.I prepared this ladoos by using grinding version.
Ellu Urundai / Sesame Ladoo :
Thats It : Dry Roast Ellu(Sesame) - Grind with Jaggery - Make Ladoos
Total Time : 12mins
Yields : 7-8Ladoos
Ellu / Sesame seeds 1Cup (i used white sesame seeds)
Jaggery 1/2Cup (crushed)
Cardamom Pods 3Pods
1.Dry roast ellu/sesame seeds for 2mins till it bursts and flavour wafts(stir it now and then,dont burn it).Transfer it the plate and cool down.
2.In same pan,add peanuts and dry roast it for 2mins,keep aside.After it cools down to remove the skin,just crush it by hands.Grind it coarsely.Transfer it a wide bowl.
3.Now take roasted ellu/sesame seeds in mixie jar and grind it coarsely/finely.
4.Add crushed jaggery,cardamom pods along with the ground ellu/sesame seeds for the better blending.Grind it.Transfer it a wide bowl.
[If yours jaggery is a qualitier one then grind as it is with ellu seeds.Otherwise in a pan add little (3tbsp) water to the jaggery and dissolve it by heating,strain it to remove the impurities.Then add it to the bowl.]
5.Make Ladoos when it is warm.Adding ghee to the mixture is optional,i used 1tsp of ghee.Oil left from the ellu/til is enough for make rounds or you can grease it with ghee.
After it cools down,store it in air-tight container.It stays fresh for two days at room temperature,and keep it in refrigerator it goes well for 5days.
