Rice and Dals are very essential foods for indian people.This is considered as the very first solid food for babies.This kichadi mix will ease your work/worries during travels.You can add any veggies of your choice while cooking this kichadi mix,it takes 6-7mins.I usually add carrot,beans,beets,potato with it.During my last vacation to India,i prepared this kichadi mix and some homemade cereals to manage Vikram throughout a month.To be honest,we enjoyed a lot by visiting many places with family without any worries.Sometimes i strained the water and serve him.It stays well for 5hours.Though,in home i always had any homemade mix for him which is very handy when we go for spicy foods.

Cooking Rice 1Cup
Moong Dal 1/2Cup
Toor Dal 1/4Cup
Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
1.Measure and take rice & dals in a seperate bowl.Wash it for 3times and immediately drain the water completely.You can also place the rice and dals in strainer too till start roasting.Before rice and dals going to the pan,just tap the strainer to remove the excess water.
2.Heat a pan in a low-medium flame,add the rice and roast it till the moisture gone and it becomes dry.Transfer it to the plate and cool down completely.This process takes around 4mins.
3.Now add dals and roast it for 5-6mins in low-medium flame till the aroma wafts and it becomes completely dry.Transfer it to the plate and cool down completely.This process takes little more time than rice.Dont burn it.
4.Now add cumin seeds and roast it for a min then keep aside.Take cooleed rice and cumin seeds into the jar and grind it to a fine powder.Transfer it to the wide bowl/plate.
5.Take cooled dals into the jar,add hing to it,then grind it to a fine powder.Transfer it to the same bowl.
6.Mix rice and dal powder well and transfer it into the clean air-tight container.
